A "bowl"? What is that anyway?

With our Kölln oat flakes, you can conjure up not only creamy porridge, refreshing shakes, rolls and bread – our products also look great served as a breakfast "bowl". The trendy term "bowl" describes the fact that various ingredients are arranged in a bowl according to your mood in a kind of modular principle.

By the way, this dish isn't just suitable as a hearty breakfast. You may have heard of the poke bowl – a Hawaiian national dish topped with rice, fruit, various vegetables and optionally with salmon, chicken or tofu. Bowls also have a long tradition in Asian cuisine.

Today, however, we're focusing on the smoothie bowl. To make it, first puree some fruit of your choice. Bananas are particularly good, as they provide a slightly firmer consistency – your bowl shouldn't be as runny as a smoothie.

Generally speaking, you can choose between frozen or fresh fruit. Fresh or frozen berries, such as raspberries, strawberries or blueberries, also belong in the blender alongside the oat flakes. You can also add yogurt, depending on your taste.

Once all the ingredients are blended into a creamy consistency, it's time for the toppings. Flaxseeds, almonds, psyllium husks, coconut chips, nuts, granola, berries, fresh mango, a dollop of peanut butter – choose whatever you like best. You don't necessarily have to follow a specific recipe. You generally don't need to sweeten the result. The fruit gives your breakfast bowl just the right amount of sweetness.

Breakfast bowls with oat flakes are so popular because they're quick to prepare and provide a refreshing boost in the morning. The creamy mixture is also quick to prepare.

For people with little time after getting up, it can also be prepared the evening before – it stays fresh in the fridge and can be topped with toppings, fruit and muesli the next day.

Do you prefer it warm in the morning? Try a porridge!

Oat bowls are great, especially on warmer days. If you're in the mood for a warming breakfast that melts in your mouth, we recommend a porridge, for example, a warm chocolate or a savoury pesto egg porridge. Enjoy and start your day with a delicious breakfast made with Kölln oat flakes!
