Strawberries are one of most people's absolute favourite fruits. We use them in our mueslis as freeze-dried strawberry pieces or as a fine powder – for the perfect fruit kick.
The harvest season begins in early June and lasts until mid-July. Strawberries must be ripe to develop their full flavour – this can be recognised by their uniform red colour.
Freeze-dried strawberries – 100 % fruit power
Our freeze-dried strawberry pieces are made from 100 % fresh frozen strawberries. Thanks to the particularly gentle freeze-drying, the colour, shape, smell and of course the taste are completely preserved. And the best part? One kilogram of freeze-dried strawberries is made from around ten kilograms of fresh fruit - so much strawberry power in every bite!
Where do our strawberries come from?
Strawberries love a mild climate with warm days and cooler nights. That's why they grow not only in Germany, but also in other countries with a temperate climate, such as Poland. The strawberries for Kölln Oat Porridge Berry and Kölln Oat Muesli Berry & Apple – No Added Sugar come from there.
Did you know that the strawberry is not a “berry” at all?
Yes, you read that right! Strawberries belong to the rose family and, from a botanical point of view, are not berries, but rather collective nuts. The actual fruits are the small yellow nuts on the surface of the strawberry.
